The Sophomore Update
To be honest, I don't know what to do with spare time on my hands and thought I'd pick blogging back up over the Christmas break. So here is an update on my life and more opinionated statements for FREE!
In case you were wondering, my first semester of sophomore year is over. Thank the Lord, (for real) because sophomore year is HARD. People always talk about how difficult freshman year is and how it is a hard adjustment...this is true, but no one ever talks about sophomore year - and now I know why.
I'm not sure if this is normal for college students studying music, but I felt like my brain was not completely connecting with my music. I hit many walls and some of my habits from last semester are still in the way. I just keep telling myself that those habits should change next semester because by then my brain will have had plenty of time to adjust. Plus, I have made some changes for the better compared to last semester! Chin up, buttercup.
This semester, my friends and I were able to make some great memories! Good friends really make a difference.
Thanks to connections and thoughtful campus faculty, my piano education is definitely not going to waste. I have been able to play for different churches this semester and will be able to teach soon. I have students that I enjoy traveling to teach as well. Teaching piano and watching my students grow is very rewarding.
I still am torn between leaving home and loving the city I go to school in now. Leaving that there.
I am really wanting to pick up photography... not because a lot of people are doing it. It is genuinely fun for me! I've also thought briefly about picking up writing for some company as a side job. The question is where and when? If you have any ideas feel free to let me know.
Wedding planning has been put on a hold over the semester simply because I had no time. I started the save the dates via email, but this was not very successful because it was so much work to get every individual's email address. There were also some complications due to old email addresses or incorrect information. I decided to just skip to invitations. I will start working
on those soon.
On the bright side of wedding planning, the "Casita" (our future tiny house) is coming along! There is currently a bathroom and washroom being installed. Cabinets are being installed and we have most of the flooring just waiting to be installed as well! I'm just trying to hold myself back from buying more dishes and home décor...
Dylan has officially graduated!! This is so crazy to think about. I'm not sure how he did it because I could not have gone without as much sleep as he did. I'm pretty sure his new hobby is puppy shopping now. He is excited to be a "working man" with a normal 8-5 shift instead of late nights and early mornings.

From high school to college!
Before I end, I would have to say that one of the highlights of the semester was being able to see Josh Turner in concert. Thanks to my friends and my chauffer, I actually got to hear him sing in person! It made my semester.

Pure EXCITMENT at the concert. |
